Behind the Scenes: The Naked City (1948)

The Naked City (Larry Wright)My new favorite Behind the Scenes pic – shooting on the edge of a skyscraper for Jules Dassin’s The Naked City (1948).

Dassin shot the film on location in New York, but his next effort – 1949’s Thieves Highway – would be Dassin’s last in the United States for nearly twenty years after the director was blacklisted. Following five years out of work, Dassin resumed his career in Europe where he helmed another handful of classics including the heist film Rififi (1955) and Never on Sunday (1960).
